Dan Blair is in his first year as Director of Athletics at Northern Essex Community College in 2017-18. He officially began his duties on September 11, 2017.
Blair, came to Northern Essex after spending 10 years at NCAA Division II Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH. Beginning in 2007 he was the schools first NCAA Compliance Coordinator, before being promoted to Assistant Athletic Director in February of 2009. Blair was promoted to Associate Director of Athletics in January 2015 and spent his final two and half years in Rindge overseeing all the day to day operations of the Ravens 25 sport athleic program, including serving as the direct sport supervisor to 13 programs.
During his time at Franklin Pierce, Blair served on numerous committees on campus as well as at the regional and national level. From 2013 through 2017, Blair served five years as a member of the NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Championship Committee, including three years as the national committe chairperson. He also spent seven years serving as Franklin Pierce's representaive on the Northeast-10 Conference Committee for Sports Administration.
Prior to joining Franklin Pierce, Blair spent one season as an assistant coach with the men's and women's track and field teams at his alma mata Bridgewater State University, where he graduated in 2006 and was a four year member of the Bears track & field and cross country programs.
Blair currently resides in Newburyport. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Bridgewater State Unviersity in 2006 and added a master's degree in athletic facility management from Franklin Pierce University in 2011.
